Toni Green is a classic soul singer, born in Memphis at a time when Stax Records wowed listeners with songs by Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, The Staple Singers, Johnnie Taylor and Isaac Hayes.
Toni Green’s first live performance dates back to when she was eight years old, followed by her first performances in the band The Knights and her first hit single “What Have You Done to My Heart” with Imported Moods, for the historic Hi Recording label in 1970. A performer with an extraordinary voice and a very personal style, during a performance in a local nightclub, Toni Green caught the attention of the legendary Isaac Hayes and Luther Ingram, soon joining their bands as a backing vocalist.
After a period of work in Louiseville, where she received the best female vocal award twice, in 1995 Toni returned to Memphis and released the album “Mixed Emotions”, followed by “Beauty And The Beast Compilation”. The latter includes three singles that turned Toni’s career: “Sweet Thing”, “Precious To Me” and “How I Can Sing This Song Without You”. After these successes, Toni Green released “Strong Enough” in 2001 and “Southern Soul Music” in 2002, containing the hits “Just Ain’t Working Out” and “Single Mothers”.
October 2023 sees Toni’s fantastic voice set off on tour across Europe, accompanied by her French band, to promote her new album “Memphis Made”.
