__________
Pulse is home to one of the best DJs around – get ready for one of Yousuke Yukimatsu’s legendary, mind-blowing performances. The evening opens with Carolina Martine’s eclectic set, then Cocktail Party Effect tears up the dance floor with heavy bass and distorted rhythms. Pigienne closes by fusing bass, jungle and footwork.
__________
¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U (JP)
Midnight shift/Bedouin
Versatility doesn’t even come close to describing why the humble Japanese DJ ¥ ØU $ UK € ¥ UK1MAT $ U is considered one of the best in the world by many of his peers.
Your favorite DJ’s favorite DJ is originally from Osaka (where he used to host his Zone Unknown parties), but now lives in Tokyo. His legendary mastery of CDJs provides mind-blowing yet seamless connections of every genre imaginable. To satisfy his voracious hunger for all types of music, Yukimatsu can play all different types of sets, from meditative to peaky, all with the fusion of ingenuity and expert rhythm we’ve come to expect.
The legend of his performances has only grown over the years: from his debut at DJ Nobu’s Future Terror event to performing four consecutive editions at Berlin’s Atonal, Yousuke’s sets have to be heard to be believed.
COCKTAIL PARTY EFFECT (UK)
Tectonic/nervous horizon
The South London artist, fresh from his two stunning 2023 releases on Wallwork & TSVI’s Nervous Horizon and Pinch’s Tectonic, brings his live set to our stage. Pairing battered vintage hardware with the latest software, Cocktail Party Effect forges a sonic palette that continues to push beyond conventional club music.
Between heavy bass hits, jungle experimentation, hi-tech electronic and UK garage influences, his explosive drum patterns and tech-hardened sonic warfare will burn a hole in the dance floor and leave a trail of smoke behind them while the subtitles swoop low.
CAROLINA MARTINES (IT)
Manticora/Undicesimacasa editions
Co-founder of the Undicesimacasa collective in 2019, in recent years Carolina has dedicated herself to musical research and the practice of DJing. Her sets are eclectic, unpredictable and create stories between different soundscapes. In 2023 she launches the mixtape label Manticora Edizioni with sound artist Giovanni Lami; the two also carry out a sound research project and musical selections.
PIGIENNE (IT)
Cumulonimbus clouds
In her sets Pigienne develops a continuous dialogue between bass, jazz, jungle and footwork sounds. A futuristic mix that takes the listener back to the genesis of the rhythm.
