Pipe Dream is the result of an international collaboration between the legendary American cellist and singer Hank Roberts (formerly part of Bill Frisell’s quintet) and four of the most creative and transversal musicians of the new Italian scene (Pasquale Mirra, Zeno De Rossi, Giorgio Pacorig and Filippo Vignato) united in a singular sounding formation, capable of ranging between chamber atmospheres, grooves, African echoes, new music and American folk rock.
Established as a live band of great impact and with magical alchemy since their debut on the scene in 2017, they then touched the most important Italian jazz festivals. The ensemble found further confirmation in the publication of the 2018 debut album of the same name, acclaimed by Italian and international critics.
The new recording chapter “Blue Roads” was released in June: a set of poignant singing themes that combine elements of jazz, chamber music, folk and improvisation, built around trombone, cello and voice, complemented by piano, vibraphone and battery.
