Föllakzoids are probably the best thing that happened to krautrock in the Third Millennium. What started more than a decade ago as a trance experience between two childhood friends from Santiago de Chile, Domingæ and Diego, has developed through the years and albums into a cosmic journey. Hypnotic saturating guitars, obsessive bass pulsations and percussion between the Motorik and the tribal dig into the legacy of the ancestral music of the Andes, extracting a sonic amalgam that reminds more than ever of a sort of primordial proto-techno.
After the pandemic stop Domingæ Garcia-Huidobro finally brings his Föllakzoid on the world tour that should have taken place two and a half years ago, to present “I”, the band’s fourth LP, released, like the predecessors “II” and “III” on the cult label Sacred Bones. “I” is a non-rational sonic art form, born from a process of purification and deconstruction. Over sixty isolated recordings of guitars, basses, drums, synths and vocals have been reorganized by the historic German producer Atom ™ without any restrictions or guidelines, to become the four long tracks of the disc.
