ZIÚR (DE)
PAN / Planet Mu
Ziúr’s music has always been difficult to classify. A staple of Berlin’s rich musical topography, the musician, producer and DJ has reduced club music to burning ashes over the years.
Her music is expansive, with rich and evocative textures that lean towards the cybernetic. A mechanical sound that at the same time knows how to be deeply anthropomorphic, playing with the chaotic spectrum of human emotions.
Immediately acclaimed for her two debut EPs, “Deeform” and “Taiga”, and her two albums on Planet Mu “Do U Feel Anything?” and “ATØ”, in 2021 her creative impetus reaches new heights with a third LP, “Antifate”, released on PAN, and two new EPs, “Now Now” and “Blur”. If in “Antifate” he focuses on musical narrative, pushing abstract pop forms into the mists of digital euphoria, in “Blur” the focus returns to the DIY dancefloor, in what is his most explosive and visceral material: a sonic iconography made of distorted rhythms and elastic sub-bass that finds its ideal sequel in the series of singles “Bin There” published in 2022.

VAN BOOM (KW)
Cease 2 Exist / ANBA
Kwait-born producer, DJ and event organizer Van Boom is a rare voice in a burgeoning underground scene under pressure from the social mechanisms of the Gulf region.
His artistic output questions what is forbidden in a context of limitations of personal and creative expression. A lament made of abrasive sounds, dizzying fragmentations and acidic crescendos, in which however a profound meditation on the meaning of diversity and disobedience is encoded. The two EPs released between 2019 and 2020 channeled industrial brutality and hard dance into post club constructs, garnering attention from NTS Radio and Boiler Room.
His first album on Cease 2 Exist by Varg²™ was released in December, followed by a remix album featuring, among others, VTSS, E-Saggila and Slikback. “Prosthetics” is the manifestation of intoxicating frustrations in a demonic cacophony of distorted ecstasy, pushing the energy and experimentation of his previous works to the limit, charging with a ravenous dancefloor adrenaline.
X/O (CA/VN)
Precious Metals / Quantum Natives
x/o is the brainchild of Veron Xio, producer, performer, filmmaker and visual artist of Vietnamese and Canadian origins, based between Vancouver and Berlin. Their audiovisual storytelling, focused on the breakdown of gender binarisms, uses an allegorical imagery to build new worlds that explore the nuances of duality and emotions.
x/o’s debut LP, “Chaos Butterfly”, was released last spring on Berlin-based label Precious Metal to immediate critical acclaim. An ideal follow-up to the first EP “Cocoon Egg”, released five years ago on the British experimental label Quantum Natives and remixed by artists such as Toxe and Swan Meat, the album is an epic tale of catharsis and self-fulfillment explored through metamorphosis. A kaleidoscopic journey in free fall towards an enchanting and catastrophic nightmare, made of jungle percussions, glitch textures, trip hop influences and vocals that wink at emo and metal, in a perfect balance between harsh and ethereal.
